Report a Calculation Error
Calculation accuracy is the site's top priority. If a calculator returns a result that doesn't match your expectation, please send:
- Which calculator — the page URL or calculator name
- Your input values — thickness, width, length, species, or whichever fields apply
- The result shown — what the calculator returned
- The expected result — and a source supporting it (formula, reference table, or industry standard document)
All accuracy reports are reviewed against the original source documents. If a confirmed bug is found, it is corrected and the methodology note on the page is updated. We will reply to confirm receipt and let you know the outcome.
Suggest a Feature or Calculator
If there is a lumber measurement task you regularly do by hand or spreadsheet that would benefit from a dedicated calculator, describe it. Useful details include: what inputs you start with, what result you need, and which industry or trade context it comes from (framing, hardwood retail, timber cruising, etc.). We cannot commit to building every suggestion, but well-described needs for genuinely common tasks are taken seriously.
General Feedback
Feedback on usability, content accuracy, missing context, or anything else is welcome. If a guide page is unclear, if a formula explanation is confusing, or if an important nuance is missing from a calculation's methodology note — that is useful to know.
What We Cannot Help With
- Lumber pricing quotes — we do not sell lumber or have access to current market pricing. The lumber price guide shows reference ranges only.
- Species identification or grading — consult a local hardwood dealer or certified grader.
- Structural engineering advice — for load calculations, consult a licensed structural engineer.
- Timber sale valuations — for formal appraisals or timber sale contracts, hire a licensed consulting forester.
Frequently Asked Questions
How quickly will I get a reply?
Calculation error reports are reviewed and prioritized — expect a response within a few business days. General feedback and feature suggestions are read but may not receive individual replies. We do not have a support team; this is a small independent site maintained by its authors.
What should I include when reporting a calculation error?
Include: (1) which calculator or page the error is on, (2) the exact input values you used, (3) the result the calculator returned, and (4) the result you expected along with a source or formula that supports the expected value. Without a reference, it is difficult to determine whether the discrepancy is a bug or a difference in conventions (e.g., nominal vs actual dimensions, NHLA rounding rules).
Can I suggest a new calculator or feature?
Yes — feature suggestions are welcome. Describe what you are trying to calculate, what inputs you would provide, and what result you need. The more specific, the more useful. We cannot promise every suggestion will be built, but well-described requests for genuinely useful tools are taken seriously.
Is there a way to report a typo or content error?
Yes. Send the URL of the page, quote the incorrect text, and describe what the correction should be. Content errors (wrong formula written in a guide, incorrect species density listed, misspelled species name) are typically easy to fix quickly once confirmed.
